SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Virginia M. Padesky of Moline, who passed
4away on January 8, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Virginia Padesky was born on May 23, 1928 in Rural
6Rock Island County to Edward and Mildred Sackville Schmidt; she
7graduated from Aledo High School and married James E. "Jake"
8Padesky on May 4, 1952 in Aledo; and
 
9    WHEREAS, After graduating from the Moline Public Hospital
10School of Nursing, Virginia Padesky served as an Ensign in the
11U.S. Navy Nurse Corps during the Korean War; as an R.N., she
12worked as a school nurse in the Moline School District before
13retiring in 1984; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Virginia Padesky was a member of the Holy Cross
15Lutheran Church and was part of the Lutheran Women's Missionary
16League; she was also a member of American Legion Post 246,
17Moline, the Trinity Alumni Association, and the Trinity
18Auxiliary; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Virginia Padesky was preceded in death by her
20husband, James Padesky; granddaughter, Kathleen VandeMoortel;
21sisters, Kathleen DeSchepper, Eleanor Bigham, and Eileen

1Bivens; and brother, Vaughn Schmidt; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Virginia Padesky is survived by her children, Mark
3(Vicki) Padesky, Amy (Ron) McGill, Joseph (Melissa) Padesky,
4and Anne (Gary) VandeMoortel; grandchildren, Jacob (Liz)
5VandeMoortel, Greg (Jackie) Padesky, Abby (Jeff) Less,
6Christopher (Lauren) Padesky, Jeffrey (Stephanie) Padesky,
7Alex McGill, and Luke Padesky; great-grandchildren, Cohen,
8Sophia, Elise, Mae, Everett, Gabriel, Samuel, Nora, Mila,
9Denali, and Austin; sisters, Genevieve Parchert and Judy Bieri;
10sister-in-law, Pauline Schmidt; and brother-in-law, Kenneth
11DeSchepper; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14Virginia M. Padesky and extend our sincere condolences to her
15family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
16further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Virginia Padesky as an expression of
19our deepest sympathy.
