SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Donald E. "Don" Cleek of Coal Valley, who
4passed away on December 31, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Don Cleek was born in Camden to Maurice and Faye
6(Chapman) Cleek on April 16, 1930; he graduated from Augusta
7High School in 1948 and married Erma Martin in Rushville on
8November 12, 1950; he served in the U.S. Army as an airborne
9engineer from 1950 to 1952; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Don Cleek retired in 1988 from John Deere, where
11he worked as an assembler and welder for 30 years; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Don Cleek enjoyed working outside in his yard and
13riding and restoring antique motorcycles; he was a lifelong
14Cubs fan; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Don Cleek was preceded in death by his parents and
16his brother, Marion; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Don Cleek is survived by his wife, Erma; his son,
18Rod (Penny) Cleek; his daughter, Sandy O'Neill; his
19granddaughters, Elizabeth (Ben) Julian and Emily (Tim) Murphy;
20and his great-grandchildren, Harry Murphy and Laurel Julian;

1therefore, be it
 
2    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
3ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
4Donald E. "Don" Cleek and extend our sincere condolences to his
5family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
6further
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8presented to the family of Don Cleek as an expression of our
9deepest sympathy.
