SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Paul Quintin Rodgers of Moline, who
4passed away on October 30, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Paul Rodgers was born in Moline to Dwight Oliver
6and Evelyn Leanore Peterson Rodgers on July 30, 1948; during
7school, he was a gymnast, wrestler, and member of the marching
8band; he entered the U.S. Army in June of 1968 and completed
9his basic training at Ft. Gordon, Georgia; he served in the
10Vietnam War and was awarded the Purple Heart for his bravery;
11and
 
12    WHEREAS, Paul Rodgers was always thinking of others and
13would bring someone he had just met to the family Thanksgiving
14dinner, welcoming them when they had nowhere else to go; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Paul Rodgers lived a very adventurous life and was
16admired for his determination, independence, free spirited
17nature, and positive attitude; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Paul Rodgers was preceded in death by his brother,
19Guy Douglas Rodgers; his father, Dwight Oliver Rodgers; his
20mother, Evelyn Leanore Rodgers; his sister, Dorothy Eva Rodgers
21Sprung; his brother-in-law, Frank John Sprung; his

1sister-in-law, Carolyn Applebee Rodgers; and his best friend,
2Bill Farrell; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Paul Rodgers is survived by his sister, Jill Kay
4Rodgers Amoni; his brother, George Milton Rodgers (Anne
5Odermatt); and several nieces, nephews, friends, and
6neighbors, particularly, Juli and Chris Zimmerman along with
7their children; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Paul Quintin Rodgers and extend our sincere condolences to his
11family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Paul Rodgers as an expression of our
15deepest sympathy.
