SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Mary Alice Dixon on February 10, 2019 at
4the age of 69; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Mary Alice (Nykiel) Dixon was born September 13,
61949 to Irene and Chester Nykiel; she was a former resident of
7Oak Park, later becoming a resident of Westchester; and
 
8    WHEREAS, For 45 years, Mary Alice Dixon served thousands of
9patients, primarily children, as a registered nurse, working at
10Michael Reese, Hartgrove, Riveredge, Children's Memorial, and
11Lurie Children's hospitals; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Mary Alice Dixon was a skilled clinician; she was
13respected by her colleagues, and they spoke of working with her
14as an honor; one remarking that she brought a special gift to
15each person she encountered; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Mary Alice Dixon was an avid adventurer; she
17enjoyed traveling to various locales, such as Cancun, Las
18Vegas, Arizona, England, Spain, and Hong Kong, as well as
19campfires at the farm in Marlette; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Mary Alice Dixon was a lover of people and enjoyed

1bringing them together though travel and parties, including the
2St. Patrick's Day dance at St. Giles, her infamous Oscar party,
3and the pierogi and kolacky party; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Mary Alice Dixon was a devoted parishioner of St.
5Giles Catholic Church; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Mary Alice Dixon is survived by her husband,
7Russell A. Dixon, D.D.S.; her daughter, Erica (Jennifer
8Dixon-Johnson); her grandchildren, Cooper and Russell; her
9siblings, Gail (Joseph) Maher and Glen Nykiel; and her nieces,
10cousins, and many friends; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Mary Alice Dixon and extend our sincere condolences to her
14family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
15further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Mary Alice Dixon as an expression of
18our deepest sympathy.
