SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Anthony "Tony" Pinelli, who passed away
4on October 7, 2019 at the age of 71; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Tony Pinelli was born on August 28, 1948 to
6Anthony and Louise (DeGeorge) Pinelli, one of seven children;
7and
 
8    WHEREAS, Tony Pinelli was the devoted husband of Karen
9(Korderka) and father of Anthony J.; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Tony Pinelli was a member of the Loyola Academy
11Class of 1966; he went on to earn his undergraduate degree from
12Loyola University Chicago and then his law degree from the
13Chicago-Kent College of Law at Illinois Institute of
14Technology; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Tony Pinelli began his legal career in 1973 as a
16Cook County Public Defender, working on misdemeanors,
17felonies, and death penalty cases; he then served as the
18in-house counsel to a large pension fund, where he focused on
19civil litigation before entering private practice; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Tony Pinelli opened the Law Offices of Anthony

1Pinelli; because of his forty plus years of experience and
2diverse legal background, he was able to listen to a client and
3achieve the desired outcome; he was able to represent a wide
4range of clients but focused on matters of labor and employment
5law, civil litigation, licensing agencies, government
6agencies, and criminal defense; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Tony Pinelli was an adjunct professor at Loyola
8University Chicago School of Law since 1981; he specialized in
9trial advocacy and appellate law; when he was not in the
10courtroom, you could likely find him in his classroom; he was
11an excellent teacher, and his students respected him for his
12reputation as a top Chicago trial lawyer; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Tony Pinelli was the recipient of the highest
14Martindale-Hubbell AV Preeminent peer-review rating for legal
15excellence every year since 1986 in recognition of his
16professional achievements; he was named among the top attorneys
17in Illinois by Leading Lawyers; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Tony Pinelli was beloved by all and a respected
19adviser to family, friends, and clients; his continued success
20was a result of his work ethic and was proof of his dedication;
21he was an excellent attorney, and his legacy as a top trial
22lawyer will endure; he will also be remembered for his
23advocacy; and

1    WHEREAS, Tony Pinelli was a loyal friend, had a big heart,
2and was generous and kind; he was an incredible storyteller; he
3was dedicated to his family, and his humor and smile will be
4missed; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Tony Pinelli was preceded in death by his parents,
6Anthony and Louise; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Tony Pinelli is survived by his wife, Karen; his
8son, Anthony J.; his siblings, Madeline Pinelli, Vincent (Sue)
9Pinelli, Mary Lou Kelley, Mary (Rod) Mellon, Richard Pinelli,
10Christina (Marvin) Baldwin, and Lawrence Pinelli; as well as
11many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14Anthony Pinelli and extend our sincere condolences to his
15family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
16further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Anthony Pinelli as an expression of
19our deepest sympathy.
