SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Vernon V. "Vern" Bryant of Colona, who
4passed away on October 19, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Vern Bryant was born in Muscatine, Iowa to Verldi
6and Margaret Bramble Bryant on December 29, 1928; he served in
7the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and married Virginia
8Hughes in Muscatine on July 15, 1955; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Vern Bryant worked for Case Rock Island from 1948
10to 1953 and Ben's Nursery until 1954; he was the caretaker at
11Greenview Memorial Gardens since 1954, retiring after 56 years;
12beginning in May of 1963, he also was a member of the Green
13Rock Police Force for 28 years and served as chief of police
14for many of those years; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Vern Bryant was preceded in death by his parents
16and his sisters, Darlene and Donna; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Vern Bryant is survived by his wife, Virginia; his
18sons, Randal (Donna) and Lyndal (Sheila Kelley) Bryant; his
19grandchildren, Eric (Charity), Lindsay, Devin, Drew, Logan,
20and Landon; many great-grandchildren; his brother, Bob
21(Rosemary) Bryant; and his sister, Nancy (Gene) Garvin;

1therefore, be it
 
2    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
3ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
4Vernon V. "Vern" Bryant and extend our sincere condolences to
5his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
6further
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8presented to the family of Vern Bryant as an expression of our
9deepest sympathy.
