SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of John A. Henriksen of East Moline, who
4passed away on October 19, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Henriksen was born in Clarion, Iowa to
6Laurence and Christene (Larsen) Henriksen on September 3, 1927;
7he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II; he received his
8Bachelor of Arts from Augustana College in Rock Island and his
9Master of Education from the University of Illinois; he married
10Doris Boyungs in the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa on
11August 23, 1947; and
 
12    WHEREAS, John Henriksen devoted his life to education as a
13teacher, counselor, principal, and assistant superintendent
14for East Moline schools; he retired as superintendent of
15schools for the village of Ohio, Illinois; he then returned to
16East Moline and eventually retired as school bus
17superintendent; and
 
18    WHEREAS, John Henriksen was actively involved in many
19community activities; he was a founding member of the UTS
20Credit Union and was a volunteer bus driver for Black Hawk Area
21Special Education; he was a 50-year member of the American
22Legion; and

1    WHEREAS, John Henriksen was preceded in death by his wife,
2Doris; his parents; and four sisters and a brother; and
 
3    WHEREAS, John Henriksen is survived by his sons, David,
4Eric (Sandra), and John Mark (Joan) Henriksen; seven
5grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren; therefore, be
6it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9John A. Henriksen and extend our sincere condolences to his
10family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of John Henriksen as an expression of
14our deepest sympathy.
