SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Marilyn F. Hayes of Oak Park on May 15,
42019 at the age of 97; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Marilyn Hayes was born to Philip and Agnes Upheil
6Streicher and raised in Chicago's west side Austin neighborhood
7with her brother Donald and her sister Bernadine; she later
8married Robert Hayes; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Marilyn Hayes was the matriarch of a large
10extended family, including five children, 21 grandchildren,
11and 39 great-grandchildren with two more on the way; she loved
12being with her family, whether at home on South Lombard Avenue,
13at a family reunion at Sister Lakes, Michigan, or at the
14Imperial Manor on Home Avenue, which had that "grandma's house
15smell" when you turned right out of the elevator; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Marilyn Hayes was known as a very strong woman who
17"raised four rowdy boys, and MT"; she was a loving person with
18a great sense of humor; she was always glad to see you and
19really wanted to know how you were; it was her greatest joy to
20celebrate as many milestones and memories with her children,
21grandchildren, and great-grandchildren as she possibly could;
22and

1    WHEREAS, Marilyn Hayes loved living a full life, regaling
2family and friends with tales from her mystery trips, including
3one to Morocco where she rode a camel; she also enjoyed the
4occasional cocktail, glass of wine, or beer, and keeping up
5with family on Facebook, even in her later years; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Marilyn Hayes was preceded in death by her
7parents, Philip and Agnes; her husband, Robert; her brother,
8Donald; and infant brother, Clayton; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Marilyn Hayes is survived by her children, Robert
10J. Jr. (Ginny), Michael J. (Sharon), Patrick "P.J." (Marlena),
11Donald J. Hayes, and Marytherese "Terry" (David) Budge; her
12sister, Bernadine (the late Ken and the late Frank Fergueson)
13Furhman; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews,
14nieces, and friends; therefore, be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
16ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
17Marilyn F. Hayes and extend our sincere condolences to her
18family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
19further
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21presented to the family of Marilyn Hayes as an expression of
