SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Emery S. "Whitey" Schomer of East Moline,
4who passed away on September 29, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Emery Schomer was born in Rock Island to Morgan
6and Pauline (McGuire) Schomer on September 21, 1935; he served
7in the United States Navy during the Korean War; he married
8Kathleen A. Welch in Rock Island on January 10, 1959; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Emery Schomer was employed in the Tool and Die
10Room at John Deere Harvester Works for 30 years; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Emery Schomer was a member of the Moline Jaycees;
12he was a member of the American Legion Post 246, where he was
13commander for a time and proudly served as a member of the
14Legion Honor Guard; he assisted with the Miss Mississippi
15Valley Beauty Pageants; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Emery Schomer was preceded in death by his
17parents; his wife, Kathleen; his brothers, Richard and Henry;
18his children, Paul and Elizabeth; and his son-in-law, Curtis L.
19Whitten; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Emery Schomer is survived by his daughters,

1Rosetta Whitten and Rhonda Westmorland; his grandchildren,
2Julie Whitten, Curtis R. Whitten, Steaphanie Smith, James
3Westmorland, Jessica Smith, and Jerrica Westmorland; and ten
4great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7Emery S. "Whitey" Schomer and extend our sincere condolences to
8his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
9further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Emery Schomer as an expression of
12our deepest sympathy.
