SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Ruth (Hirschfield) Buhai; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Ruth Buhai was a dedicated teacher for over 25
5years; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Ruth Buhai, former First Lady of Highland Park,
7was a civic activist and an avid volunteer; she was passionate
8about politics, social causes, and improving her community; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Ruth Buhai was a member of the League of Women
10Voters for 55 years and a pioneer for women's rights; she was
11devoted to her family and friends and touched many lives; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Ruth Buhai was the beloved wife of the late Mayor
13Robert Buhai; the loving mother of Betsy (Charles) Zeifman,
14Barbara Buhai (Stephen Katz), and Liz (George) Buhai-Jacobus;
15the cherished grandma of Becca (David) Jenkins, Coby (Seyoung)
16Zeifman, Amy (Vince) Portacci, Nathaniel Katz (Karen Feltman),
17Lily Katz, and Sarah and Samantha Buhai-Jacobus; the proud
18great-grandmother of Olive Portacci, Elliot Jenkins, and two
19great-granddaughters to be; the dear sister of Martin
20Hirschfield; and the admired aunt of many nieces, nephews,
21great-nieces, and great-nephews; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
2ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
3Ruth Buhai and extend our sincere condolences to her family,
4friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further
 
5    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6presented to the family of Ruth Buhai as an expression of our
7deepest sympathy.
