SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Gale Blake Fengel of Canton, who passed
4away on August 11, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Blake Fengel was born in Canton to Gale E. and
6Frances (Spenny) Fengel on September 19, 1927; he served in the
7U.S. Navy during World War II in the South Pacific and was at
8the first test of the atomic bomb on the Bikini Islands; he
9earned the American Campaign World War II Medal and the
10Atlantic Pacific Campaign Medal; he married Lorraine M. Walsh
11in Canton on June 12, 1954; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Blake Fengel worked as an electrician at
13International Harvester for 30 years; he also worked 10 years
14in the construction field and farmed with his brothers; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Blake Fengel was a member of the International
16Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for 68 years; he was also a
17member of Bartonville American Legion Post 979, Canton VFW Post
181984, the Illinois Retrievers Hunting Club, the American Kennel
19Club, and the Hunting Retrievers 1000 Club; his dog, Northern
20Exposure's Hershey, earned a Master Hunter certificate; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Blake Fengel was preceded in death by his wife,

1Lorraine; his parents; and his brothers, Gene and Ray Fengel;
2and
 
3    WHEREAS, Blake Fengel is survived by his son, Brian (Tanya)
4Fengel; his grandchildren, Emily and Blake Fengel; his brother,
5Don Fengel; and his sister, Rose Marie Fengel; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Gale Blake Fengel and extend our sincere condolences to his
9family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
10further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Blake Fengel as an expression of our
13deepest sympathy.
