SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Terry F. "Big T" Mahan of East Moline,
4who passed away on July 29, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Terry Mahan was born in Chicago to Charles and
6Thelma (Fair) Mahan on February 25, 1942; he graduated from
7United Township High School in 1960, where he set a record in
8the 440 relay in 1958; he served in the U.S. Army and married
9Theresa Vallejo in Rock Island in 1970; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Terry Mahan worked for John Deere Harvester as an
11assembler, retiring in 1997; he was a personal trainer at the
12John Deere Fitness Center for 20 years; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Terry Mahan mentored many people through AA
14sponsorship and was set to receive his 39th year chip on August
157, 2019; he was a fitness enthusiast; he coached his children
16and grandchildren in baseball, softball, football, and track;
17he was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, and Iowa
18Hawkeyes; he never knew a stranger and was a friend to
19everyone; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Terry Mahan was preceded in death by his parents
21and his wife, Theresa; and

1    WHEREAS, Terry Mahan is survived by his children, Terri
2Phillips, Lisa (Pat) Kinnee, Scott (Tippi) Mahan, Leigh Ann
3(Rick) Breer, and Jeffrey (Hope) Mahan; 10 grandchildren; 12
4great-grandchildren; his sister, Cathy Farley; his brother,
5Michael Mahan; numerous nieces and nephews; and many close
6friends who were like family to him; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Terry F. "Big T" Mahan and extend our sincere condolences to
10his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Terry Mahan as an expression of our
14deepest sympathy.
