SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Edward Allen Rust of Bunker Hill, who
4passed away on July 14, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Edward Rust was born to Albert and Emma (Schaller)
6Rust on the Rust Family Farm just south of Bunker Hill on
7January 28, 1925; he married Lena W. Bertels at Emmaus Lutheran
8Church in Dorsey on August 24, 1947; he and Lena raised their
9family on the family farm, which became a Centennial Farm in
101985; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Edward Rust was a farmer for many years; he also
12sold insurance; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Edward Rust had a strong faith and was a lifelong
14member of Zion Lutheran Church in Bunker Hill, where he served
15in nearly every capacity, including as a Sunday school teacher
16and as a favorite tractor driver for youth group hayrides; he
17served as Bunker Hill Township Supervisor in the 1950s and as a
18Precinct Committeeman; he was a member of the Bunker Hill
19Kiwanis Club for over 30 years and enjoyed helping with the
20Christmas tree sales, selling peanuts, and providing hospital
21equipment to anyone in need; he regularly donated blood to the
22Red Cross; in 2012, he was honored to be named the Grand Parade

1Marshal for the Bunker Hill 4th of July parade; he was active
2and enjoyed sports, especially dartball, bowling, and, after
3retirement, golf; he loved his faith, his family, and his
4country; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Edward Rust was preceded in death by his parents;
6his wife, Lena; his brothers, Richard Rust and Albert Rust; and
7his sisters, Edith Rust and Audrey Lesemann; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Edward Rust is survived by his son, Kevin E.
9(Karen) Rust; his daughter, Teresa (Donald) Hancock; his
10grandchildren, Brandyn Rust and Gretchen (David) McGinley; his
11great-grandchildren, Malachi, Raelynn, and Romy McGinley; his
12brother, Dale (Luella) Rust; his sisters, Marilyn Bertels and
13Corleen Heuer; his brother-in-law, Charles (Norma) Bertels;
14his sister-in-law, Doris Rust; and many nieces, nephews, and
15cousins; therefore, be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
17ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
18Edward Allen Rust and extend our sincere condolences to his
19family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
20further
 
21    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
22presented to the family of Edward Rust as an expression of our
