SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Dr. Gregory J. Adamson of Peoria, who
4passed away on June 11, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dr. Adamson was born in Monticello, Iowa to Robert
6and Barbara (Vernon) Adamson on December 9, 1960; he graduated
7Summa Cum Laude from Augustana College with a bachelor's degree
8in biology and pre-med; he received his medical degree from
9Stanford University Medical School; he was a member of the
10Aristea Freshman Honor Society and Phi Beta Kappa, Zeta
11Chapter; he married Michelle M. Rodriguez in Santa Fe, New
12Mexico on January 16, 1993; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Dr. Adamson started his career in Peoria at Great
14Plains Orthopedics; he then founded Peoria Hand Surgery in
152015; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Dr. Adamson traveled to Haiti to provide free
17Orthopedic surgical services to victims of the earthquake in
182010; he also regularly volunteered at Cordoba Healthcare,
19where he provided free medical care to the Peoria community;
20and
 
21    WHEREAS, Dr. Adamson was a member of the J.W. Littler Hand

1Society, the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the
2Illinois State Medical Society, where he served as a Delegate
3at the annual meetings and was recently elected as the Region 1
4Trustee, and the American Medical Association; he joined the
5Peoria Medical Society in 1995 and had been active on the board
6since 2011, taking a leave from 2013 until 2015 to pursue his
7Masters of Business Administration at the University of
8Michigan; when he returned, he again joined the board of
9directors and served as a Director in 2016 and as President
10Elect in 2017; he was currently serving as the society's
11immediate Past President; he was published in the Journal of
12Arthroplasty in 1996; he was a presenter at the Western
13Orthopedic Association Conference; he was elected to the Peoria
14County Board in 2016 and represented District 11; his
15outstanding leadership will be missed; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Dr. Adamson was preceded in death by his mother
17and his brother, Clayton Adamson; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Dr. Adamson is survived by his wife, Michelle; his
19children, Hannah, Clayton, Lily, and Sarah Adamson; his father,
20Robert Marvin (Shirley) Adamson; and his siblings, Parke
21(Diane) Adamson and Ellen Kay (Ty) Taylor; therefore, be it
 
22    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
23ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of

1Dr. Gregory J. Adamson and extend our sincere condolences to
2his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
3further
 
4    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
5presented to the family of Dr. Adamson as an expression of our
6deepest sympathy.
