SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Ross W. Wherry of Moline, who passed away
4on June 7, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ross Wherry was born in Springfield to Richard and
6Doris Wherry on November 30, 1952; he was the first Eagle Scout
7from Orion Troop 123; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Ross Wherry traveled the world helping others; he
9served in the United States Marine Corps and the State
10Department (USAID) and was stationed in Africa, Europe, Central
11and South America, the Middle East, and Asia; he saved sea
12turtles, helped farmers, encouraged education, improved access
13to medical care and clean water, and worked to repair
14infrastructure in war-torn countries; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Ross Wherry mastered several languages, sang in
16community and church choirs, played the French horn, and
17enjoyed the arts; he was an enthusiastic travel guide and
18history buff; he nurtured gardens, hiked in the National Parks,
19and remained involved in local theatres and historical
20preservation; he always found time for a glass of wine, a good
21cheese, a thick book, a hearty laugh, and sharing stories with
22family and friends; and

1    WHEREAS, Ross Wherry was preceded in death by his parents
2and his brother, Michael; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Ross Wherry is survived by his wife and daughters,
4Donna, Kathryn, and Antonia; his siblings, Donald, Maryan, and
5Chon; and his sisters-in-law, Sharon and Diana; therefore, be
6it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Ross W. Wherry and extend our sincere condolences to his
10family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Ross Wherry as an expression of our
14deepest sympathy.
