SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Joseph J. Gargano of Silvis, who passed
4away on May 27, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Joseph Gargano was born in Silvis to Jim and Marie
6Rango Gargano on May 17, 1925; he served in the U.S. Army and
7was awarded the Purple Heart; he married Carol Johnson and then
8later married Marilyn Anderson; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Joseph Gargano was the head of maintenance at the
10Rock Island Arsenal for 25 years, retiring in 1985; he then
11became the owner of K & C Appliances, retiring in 1999; he
12helped start the auxiliary police department in 1960 and was a
13member of the U.S. Civil Defense; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Joseph Gargano was a member of the Kiwanis, VFW
15Post 2153, East Moline American Legion Post 227, the Fraternal
16Order of Eagles for over 75 years, and CASI; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Joseph Gargano was preceded in death by his
18parents; his brother, Carl Gargano; and his sister, Mary
19Raiche; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Joseph Gargano is survived by wife, Marilyn; his

1daughter, Mary Erricca (Shalamar) Watford; and his
2grandchildren, Tracy and Okoiya Watford; therefore, be it
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
5Joseph J. Gargano and extend our sincere condolences to his
6family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
7further
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to the family of Joseph Gargano as an expression of
10our deepest sympathy.
