SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Leon Edward Seay of Gurnee, who passed
4away on May 15, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Leon Seay was born in Hurst-Busch to Edgar and
6Bessie (Myers) Seay on December 12, 1936; after high school, he
7served in the United States Coast Guard; he later served in the
8Coast Guard Reserves and finally in the Coast Guard Auxiliary;
9and
 
10    WHEREAS, Leon Seay worked for the North Shore Gas Company
11for over 35 years; in 1969, he established the Gas Appliance
12Service Company, which he operated until 1996; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Leon Seay was a member of the Waukegan Jaycees,
14the Gurnee American Legion Post 771, and the Lake County
15Recovery Divers Association; he participated in both the
16Waukegan and Gurnee Citizen's Police Academies; he was a Free
17Mason, Anchor and Ark Lodge in Waukegan for the past 47 years;
18he enjoyed fishing on Lake Michigan and constantly tended to
19the birds and his garden; he loved his family and nature and
20had a strong faith; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Leon Seay was preceded in death by his father,

1Edgar Seay; his mother, Bessie Billot and her husband, Frank;
2his brother, Master Sergeant Bobby D. Seay; and his
3grandchildren, Ashley Seay and Derek Anderson; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Leon Seay is survived by his children, Victoria
5(Robert) Elbrecht, Leon R. Seay and his partner, Roberta
6Rutter, Carol Rommel, Shari (Peter Markiewicz) Seay, and
7Michael (Shannon) Seay; his wife, Millie, and her children,
8Rose, Susan, Ricky, and Cindy; his grandchildren, Brooke, Mark,
9Dana, Shannon, Bobby, Andrea, Shelby, Erich, Cheyenne, Sofia,
10Michael, Danny, Melissa, and Nicole; and his
11great-grandchildren, Braiden, Scarlet, Gregory, Brilee, and
12Sloane; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Leon Edward Seay and extend our sincere condolences to his
16family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
17further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Leon Seay as an expression of our
20deepest sympathy.
