SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Shirley Grove-Valevicius of Bolingbrook,
4who passed away on May 7, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Shirley Grove-Valevicius was born to Edgar E. and
6Alice J. (Turek) Grove on May 4, 1937; she graduated from Oak
7Park River Forest High School in 1955; she returned to school
8while in her 60s and graduated from Lewis University, where she
9was named a Scholar of the University in 2002 and received
10multiple degrees, including her Master of Arts in
11Organizational Leadership in 2004; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Inspired by her father's public service, Shirley
13Grove-Valevicius resigned from her role as an administrator at
14Commonwealth Edison for a career in local politics in
15Bolingbrook; she served as an election judge, precinct captain,
16and committeewoman; she was elected as the DuPage Township
17Collector on November 2, 2010; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Shirley Grove-Valevicius was an active member of
19the Bolingbrook Arts Council, the Bolingbrook Chamber of
20Commerce, the Lewis University Alumni Board, and the Daughters
21of the American Revolution; she had a great love for the
22environment, dogs, horses, and wildlife; and

1    WHEREAS, Shirley Grove-Valevicius was preceded in death by
2her former husband, Anton G. Valevicius; her parents; and her
3brother, Edgar Grove Jr.; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Shirley Grove-Valevicius is survived by her
5daughter, Cheryl Barrett; her son, Tony Valevicius; and her
6grandchildren, Ryan Barrett and Alec Barrett; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Shirley Grove-Valevicius and extend our sincere condolences to
10her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Shirley Grove-Valevicius as an
14expression of our deepest sympathy.
