SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Dennis M. "Denny" Bruckert of Plainview,
4who passed away on May 2, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Denny Bruckert was born in Litchfield to Harry and
6Catherine (Musgrove) Bruckert on June 5, 1944; he graduated
7from Bunker Hill High School in 1962, where he excelled at
8baseball and basketball; he was drafted to play for the
9Pittsburgh Pirates, but declined; he was also an Illinois
10All-State basketball player; he served in the U.S. Navy and was
11stationed in Vietnam; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Denny Bruckert retired after having been partner
13and owner of the Daley Bruckert new car dealerships in
14Gillespie, Staunton, and Carlinville; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Denny Bruckert married Susan (Briskovich)
16Bruckert on March 20, 1999; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Denny Bruckert was a member of VFW Post 4547 in
18Gillespie; he had a passion for fastpitch softball and his
19teams won numerous international and national championships;
20his proudest accomplishment was being the head coach of the
21United States Men's National Fastpitch Softball Team; his

1second proudest sports moment was being able to teach his
2grandson Dominic the basics of baseball at a very early age and
3to coach his Little League teams; he was an avid fan of the St.
4Louis Cardinals; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Denny Bruckert was preceded in death by his
6mother, Catherine (Musgrove) Bruckert; his birth father, Harry
7Bruckert; his stepfather, Albert Bruckert; and his first wife,
8Peaches (Stankoven) Bruckert; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Denny Bruckert is survived by his wife, Susan; his
10children, Shanna Michelle Bruckert, Brandy Lea Bruckert
11(Daniel Fisher), Shelly Alepra (Matt), and Alan Young (Kelley);
12his grandchildren, Dominic Alepra, Isabella Alepra, Marcus
13Young, and Ashley Young; his siblings, Ronald Bruckert (Ginny)
14and Carol Zakrewski (Gary); his half brother and half sister,
15Bob Bruckert and Candy Bruckert; and numerous nieces, nephews,
16great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins; therefore, be it
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
18ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
19Dennis M. "Denny" Bruckert and extend our sincere condolences
20to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
21it further
