SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Philip Frank "Phil" Leable of Beach Park,
4who passed away on April 8, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Phil Leable was born on the family farm in
6unincorporated Rosecrans to Frank and Margaret Leable on
7November 2, 1926; he married Margaret A. Pataky; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Phil Leable was a dairy farmer for 22 years before
9working as the Benton Township Highway Commissioner for over 20
10years; he also served as the Benton Township Clerk for 12
11years; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Phil Leable was an active member of North Prairie
13United Methodist Church; he had a passion for volunteering and
14serving others through various clubs and organizations
15including the Future Farmers of America, the Pure Milk
16Association, Township Officials of Illinois, the Winthrop
17Harbor Lions Club, the North Prairie School Board, and the
18North Prairie Church Board, where he was dedicated to
19rebuilding the church after it was destroyed by a fire; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Phil Leable enjoyed downhill skiing throughout
21his life, which he did until he was 84 years old; he also had an

1active woodworking hobby and participated in numerous craft
2shows; he could build or fix most anything; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Phil Leable was preceded in death by his parents;
4his sister, Lois (Elmer) Martin; and his brother, Richard
5(Caryl) Leable; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Phil Leable is survived by his wife of 70 years,
7Margaret; his daughters, Penny (Paul) Bouchard and Gail (Ward)
8Brown; his grandchildren, Christopher (Ashley) Bouchard,
9Bradford Drabant, and Anna (Daniel) Watterson; and his
10great-grandchildren, Evan Bouchard, Olivia Bouchard, Levi
11Bouchard, and Sophia Watterson; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14Philip Frank "Phil" Leable and extend our sincere condolences
15to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
16it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Phil Leable as an expression of our
19deepest sympathy.
