SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of volunteer firefighter Kody Michael
4Vanfossan of Christopher, who passed away while responding to a
5building fire on May 5, 2019; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Kody Vanfossan was born in Carbondale to Brent and
7Mindy Vanfossan on November 15, 1994; a third-generation
8firefighter, he joined the Christopher Fire Department as a
9cadet at the age of 16 and was a nine-year veteran; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Kody Vanfossan was employed by Nascote Industries
11in Nashville; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Kody Vanfossan was known for his kind heart and
13willingness to help others; he had countless friends, both in
14and out of the fire service; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Kody Vanfossan made the ultimate sacrifice in
16defense of and service to his community while responding to a
17six alarm fire with the Christopher Fire Department; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Kody Vanfossan was preceded in death by his
19grandparents, Libero and Delphine Bartolotti, Mitch Wilkerson,
20Bob Adams, and Tom Vanfossan; and

1    WHEREAS, Kody Vanfossan is survived by his fiance, Casey
2Garret; his son, Erik Michael Vanfossan; his parents; his
3brother, Garrett Vanfossan; his sister, Paige Vanfossan; his
4grandparents, Gary and Kathy Bartolotti, Lisa Wilkerson, and
5Terena Kash; his great-grandmother, Doris Adams; his uncle,
6Michael (Susie) Bartolotti; and his many cousins, great-aunts,
7and great-uncles; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Kody Michael Vanfossan and extend our sincere condolences to
11his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Kody Vanfossan as an expression of
15our deepest sympathy.
