SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The State of Illinois is committed to the
3well-being of every child within the State; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Achieving this goal means recognizing the root
5causes of racism and discrimination and working to eliminate
6the disparities that exist along racial, ethnic, and inclusion
7lines; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Voices for Illinois Children has adopted a
9resolution stating its commitment in its work to the principles
10outlined in this resolution; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Voices for Illinois children urges other Illinois
12non-profits, businesses, and units of government to employ the
13same principles in their work; therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we pledge to see the
16State of Illinois in all its activities;
17        (1) Become a racially, ethnically, and inclusive
18    entity that will employ a racial, ethnic, and inclusion
19    (REI) lens in all its policies, programs, employment
20    practices, staff and leadership professional development,
21    and operations;

1        (2) Identify and work with a diverse group of
2    organizations and individuals affected by historical and
3    current policies resulting in discrimination and exclusion
4    to explore alternatives that will reduce inequities;
5        (3) Use and advocate for disaggregated data to
6    illustrate current and past systemic discriminatory
7    practices, existing disparities for Illinois children and
8    their families, and progress in eliminating such
9    disparities;
10        (4) Advocate for the changes necessary to reduce
11    inequities; and
12        (5) Implement evaluation measures to ensure the
13    incorporation of a REI lens; and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to Voices for Illinois Children.
