SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Frank J. Galvin of Moline, who passed
4away on April 7, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Frank Galvin was born in Moline to Frank and
6Henrietta (Mohr) Galvin on May 23, 1930; he graduated from St.
7Ambrose Academy in 1948, St. Ambrose University in 1952, and
8the University of Illinois School of Law in 1955; he served in
9the U.S. Army and married Carol Miles in Winthrop,
10Massachusetts on October 25, 1958; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Frank Galvin joined the law firm of Potter and
12Gillman; he later specialized in the fields of real estate,
13probate, and debtor-creditor relations; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Frank Galvin was a member of Sacred Heart Church
15and a former member of St. Pius X Church, where he served on
16the parish council; he was a member of the Rock Island County
17Bar Association, where he served on the board of governors and
18as president in 1998-1999; he was a former member of the
19Oakwood Country Club, where he served on the board as
20entertainment chairman; he was an avid golfer; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Frank Galvin was preceded in death by his sisters,

1Jean and Kaye; his brothers, Bob and Jim; and his grandson,
2Jeffrey Oliver; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Frank Galvin is survived by his wife, Carol; his
4children, Michael (Kitka) Galvin, David Galvin, Stephanie
5(Dan) Oliver, John (Jennifer) Galvin, and Ted (Carmen) Galvin;
6his grandchildren, Jessica, Tatiana, and Tallia Galvin, Nick,
7Ted, and Rebecca Galvin, Kate Oliver, and Samantha and Adam
8Galvin; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Frank J. Galvin and extend our sincere condolences to his
12family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Frank Galvin as an expression of our
16deepest sympathy.
