SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Jack Anthony Nieukirk Jr. of Chillicothe,
4who passed away on April 1, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jack Nieukirk Jr. was born in Peoria to Jack and
6Mildred Samms Nieukirk Sr. on February 21, 1941; he married
7Gaye Bass in Peoria on February 25, 1962; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Jack Nieukirk Jr. worked as a fire fighter and
9retired as Captain in June of 1996 after 31 years of service;
10prior to that, he worked as a barber; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Jack Nieukirk Jr. served on the pension board for
1246 years, including 28 years as president; he also served as a
13firefighter trustee; he was a member of Labor Local 165 and
14Fire Fighters Local 50; he loved his children and grandchildren
15and enjoyed attending their extracurricular activities; he
16always looked forward to Sunday dinners with his family; he was
17an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and thought highly of
18his fellow firefighters; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Jack Nieukirk Jr. was preceded in death by his
20parents; his brothers, Steven and Randy; his sister-in-law,
21Diane Bass; and his brother-in-law, Raymond Fisher; and

1    WHEREAS, Jack Nieukirk Jr. is survived by his wife of 57
2years, Gaye; his sons, Jack (Jana Wagner-Keyes) Nieukirk III,
3James (Jody) Nieukirk, and Jeffrey (Angela) Nieukirk; his
4grandchildren, Jack Anthony (Michelle Mahoney) Nieukirk IV,
5Maddison Nieukirk, Coleton Nieukirk, Nathan Nieukirk, Taylor
6Nieukirk, Travis Nieukirk, and Meagan Nieukirk; his
7great-grandchildren, Jack Anthony V, Bowie Mahoney, and Miles
8Bailey; his sisters, Sandy Fisher and Connie (Chuck) Bradle;
9his sisters-in-law, Alice Nieukirk and Scotti Nieukirk; and his
10many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Jack Anthony Nieukirk Jr. and extend our sincere condolences to
14his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
15further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Jack Nieukirk Jr. as an expression
18of our deepest sympathy.
