SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Robert "Bob" Johnson of Rock Island, who
4passed away on March 27, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bob Johnson was born in Peoria to George "Bud" and
6Bernice "Bea" Sweetnam Johnson on August 6, 1936; he served in
7the United States Navy as a Radar Operator from 1954 to 1958;
8he received his undergraduate degree from Bradley University
9and his master's degree from Illinois State University; his
10master's thesis was instrumental in establishing the law
11enforcement program at Illinois State University; he married
12Judy Fordham in Peoria on January 9, 1965; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Bob Johnson worked as a police officer in Peoria
14for ten years before moving to the Quad-City area; he was the
15director of the Law Enforcement Program at Black Hawk College
16in Moline; he was one of three police officers who received the
17Medal of Valor for service to the Black Hawk College community;
18and
 
19    WHEREAS, Bob Johnson enjoyed woodworking, fishing,
20golfing, gardening, and spending time with his children and
21grandchildren; he also enjoyed mentoring students and the
22friendly golfing rivalry he had with his twin brother; he and

1his wife often reminisced about their time in Massachusetts and
2their time spent traveling along the East Coast; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Bob Johnson was preceded in death by his parents;
4his daughter, Patti Johnson; his siblings, Joan Purcell, James
5Johnson, and William Johnson; and his special aunt, Lucille
6Johnson; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Bob Johnson is survived by his wife, Judy; his
8children, Sue (Larry) Reichard, Pamela (John) Griffith,
9Michael (Christine) Johnson, and Holly (John) Lowe; his
10grandchildren, Brandon Reichard, Nicholas (Lindsay) Reichard,
11Stephen (Natalie) Griffith, Zachary Griffith, Maria Johnson,
12Andrew Johnson, Matthew (Brooke) Johnson, T.J. (Erin) Lowe, and
13Matthew Lowe; his great-grandchildren, Rosie Jane, Cooper,
14Jocelyn, and Eli; his sister-in-law, Lu Johnson; and his many
15nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; therefore,
16be it
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
18ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
19Robert "Bob" Johnson and extend our sincere condolences to his
20family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
21further
