SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Gary Stewart, who passed away on February
412, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Gary Stewart was born in Chicago to Romie Taylor
6and Merlene Stewart on August 11, 1965; he attended DuSable
7High School, where he met his wife, Karen Tunstall; after
8graduating high school in 1985, he and Karen married on May 31,
91985; he then joined the United States Navy, where he served
10for seven years; he made his home in San Diego, California
11before moving back to the Midwest and settling in Wisconsin; in
122006, Gary Stewart committed to his faith and was ordained
13Deacon Gary at Now Faith Ministries; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Gary Stewart became a truck driver in 2014; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Gary Stewart will be remembered as a peacemaker
16who accepted everyone; his teasing, laugh, and the nicknames he
17created for everyone will be missed; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Gary Stewart was preceded in death by his parents;
19and his siblings, Will, Beverly, and Glenda; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Gary Stewart was a dedicated, loving, and faithful

1husband to Karen, the loving father of Cherie, Cherese, Gary
2Jr., and Gabriel, the grandfather of Keve'yontae, Kivea,
3Harmony, and Kalianna, the brother of Betty, Linda, Dorothy,
4Sheila, Michael, Terry, Granville, Kimberly, and Rhonda, the
5uncle of many nieces and nephews, and the brother-in-law,
6cousin, and friend to many, especially his friend since
7childhood, Otha Maylor; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Gary Stewart and extend our sincere condolences to his family,
11friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Gary Stewart as an expression of our
14deepest sympathy.
