SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Joseph G. Salerno; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Joseph Salerno was the owner and CEO of Salerno's
5Rosedale and Galewood Chapels; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Joseph Salerno was active in the Bloomingdale
7Township community for nearly 30 years; his positive influence
8could be felt everywhere; he served as chairman of the Roselle
9Chamber of Commerce and Industry and as director of the Taste
10of Roselle Commission; he was active with the Bloomingdale
11Lions Club, the Bloomingdale Parks Foundation, and the
12Chicagoland Italian-American Charitable Organization (CIACO);
13he also regularly supported the Bloomingdale Shop With A Cop
14program and the D.A.R.E. program in area schools; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Joseph Salerno was first elected as a Bloomingdale
16Township Trustee in 2001; in 2004, CIACO honored him as its Man
17of the Year; in 2008, the Roselle Chamber of Commerce named its
18Business Person of the Year award after him in his honor; he
19was also a fixture of the annual Taste of Roselle event,
20calling bingo at the chamber's tent for nearly 20 years; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Joseph Salerno was a tremendous supporter of the

1Bloomingdale Township Republican Party; he was a long-time
2precinct committeeman, a generous sponsor of candidates and
3events, a regular volunteer, and much more; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Joseph Salerno was the cherished father of George
5(Megan) and Frank (Lynda) Salerno; the loving son of the late
6George W. and Rose G. Salerno; the dear brother of the late
7Linda (the late Jimmy) Colucci; the adored Papa of Tiffany
8(Dave), Sophia, Joey, Evan, Elizabeth, and Ethan; and the dear
9uncle of many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Joseph G. Salerno and extend our sincere condolences to his
13family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Joseph Salerno as an expression of
17our deepest sympathy.
