SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of James M. "Jim" Pauwels of Rock Island,
4who passed away on March 7, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jim Pauwels was born in Moline to Albert and Anna
6DeMeyer Pauwels on October 25, 1941; he graduated from Alleman
7High School in 1959; he served in the United States Navy during
8the Cuban Missile Crisis and was stationed at the Naval Air
9Base in Pensacola, Florida; he married Jane L. Knebel in
10Riverside, Iowa on July 11, 1964; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Jim Pauwels retired from the Rock Island Post
12Office, where he was a letter carrier; in earlier years, he
13worked for Deere & Company; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Jim Pauwels was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic
15Church in Milan, the Knights of Columbus, and the National
16Association of Letter Carriers; he coached girls softball in
17Milan and enjoyed deer hunting and camping; he had a big heart
18and a passion for life; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Jim Pauwels was preceded in death by his parents
20and his wife, Jane; and

1    WHEREAS, Jim Pauwels is survived by his children, Julie
2(Dave) VanderGinst, Jean VanderGinst, and Jeff Pauwels; his
3grandchildren, Taylor, Bailey, and Chase VanderGinst and
4Sydney and Samantha Pauwels; and his brother, Edward (Kathleen)
5Pauwels; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8James M. "Jim" Pauwels and extend our sincere condolences to
9his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
10further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Jim Pauwels as an expression of our
13deepest sympathy.
