SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Kenneth R. "Ken" Brady of Wheeling, who
4passed away on February 23, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ken Brady was born in Chicago in 1941; he
6graduated from Gordon Tech High School in 1959; he attended
7Washburn Trade School, where he specialized in carpentry and
8received his Journeyman's Certificate in 1965; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Ken Brady worked as a construction project manager
10prior to his retirement; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Ken Brady sought public office to help set the
12course for Wheeling's future and was elected to the Board of
13Trustees in April 2005; prior to that, he served on the Plan
14Commission for 17 years, including a period of time as
15chairman; as chairman, he helped implement beautification
16projects that added landscaping throughout the village and
17brick pavers to the narrow parkways and initiated the push to
18upgrade the village's comprehensive plan and zoning
19ordinances; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Ken Brady was a member of St. Joseph the Worker
21Catholic Church and served as Grand Knight for the Knights of

1Columbus Regina Council #4837; he was a also a member of the
2Carpenter's Union Local #181, Wheeling Helping Hands, where he
3helped organize the pig roast and golf outing, the Wheeling
4Garden Club, and the Wheeling Historical Society; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ken Brady was the beloved husband of 54 years of
6Christine (Mleko) Brady, the loving father of Kathy Brady,
7Cyndi Brady, and Cheryl (Carlos) Brady-Restrepo, the fond
8brother of the late Bernie (Terry) Brady, the cherished
9brother-in-law of the late Barbara and William Weder, the
10second father of Rick (Cindy) Weder, the cousin and uncle of
11many, and the great-uncle of Telis and Niko; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14Kenneth R. "Ken" Brady and extend our sincere condolences to
15his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
16further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Ken Brady as an expression of our
19deepest sympathy.
