SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Robert Joseph "Bob" Shipley of Granite
4City, who passed away on February 17, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bob Shipley was born in Granite City to Robert C.
6and Patricia A. (Ryan) Shipley on May 23, 1956; he married
7Margaret A. (Schnefke) Shipley at Sacred Heart Catholic Church
8in Granite City; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Bob Shipley most recently served as the Granite
10City Township Supervisor and on the Americas Port District
11Board of Commissioners; he had worked for the Metro East
12Sanitary District as the executive director for 10 years, as
13well as with the Department of Motor Vehicles in Granite City
14and with Metallico TaraCorp for several years; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Bob Shipley was a Granite City Alderman, precinct
16committeeman, Madison County Board Member, Phoenix Crisis
17Center Board Member, and Southwestern Illinois Flood
18Protection District Council member; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Bob Shipley was a member of Holy Family Catholic
20Church in Granite City, the Knights of Columbus #1098, and the
21Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie #1126 in Granite City; he

1enjoyed fishing, eating sweets, and playing and coaching
2football, softball, and various other sports; he achieved a
3multi-sport national championship; he also enjoyed creating
4art, painting, drawing, crafts, everything Disney, watching
5musicals, and decorating for his favorite holiday, Christmas;
6his greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially
7with his grandchildren; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Bob Shipley was preceded in death by his parents;
9his brother, Thomas Michael Shipley; and his uncle, Thomas
10Ryan; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Bob Shipley is survived by his wife, Margaret; his
12son, Luke (Lauren) Shipley; his daughters, Beth and Kari
13Shipley; his grandchildren, Peyton and Conner Shipley; his
14mother-in-law, Irene Schnefke; his brother-in-law, Bill
15Schnefke; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary Ellen and
16Pat Davis; his aunts and uncle, Sandy and Larry Richey and
17Nadine Ryan; and numerous other extended family and wonderful
18friends; therefore, be it
 
19    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
20ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
21Robert Joseph "Bob" Shipley and extend our sincere condolences
22to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
23it further
