SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Ronald "Ron" Edward Dixon of Moline, who
4passed away on February 13, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ron Dixon was born in Moline to Edward Nelson and
6Dorothy Mae Metzger Dixon on April 22, 1938; he graduated from
7United Township High School in 1956 and attended the University
8of Illinois, where he was a member of Phi Sigma Kappa; he
9graduated from Augustana College in 1962, where he was a member
10of Beta Omega Sigma; he married Joanne Windey Perkins in Rock
11Island on October 2, 1965; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Ron Dixon worked for International Harvester at
13the East Moline Plant in 1959; he returned to college in 1960;
14after graduating from college and serving in the U.S. Army from
151962 to 1964, he returned to the East Moline plant in August
161964; he entered the management training program in August 1965
17and held supervisor positions in welding, assembly, shearline,
18combine repair, receiving inspection, and Department 36; he
19retired from the East Moline Plant in November 1992; he
20returned to work in April 1993 and retired for good in March
212008; and
 
22    WHEREAS, Ron Dixon was a past member of the American

1Legion, the Friends Circle Club, and the East End Club; he was
2most recently a member of Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter
3299, the Moline Vikings, and the Swithzoid Club; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Ron Dixon enjoyed spending time with his family
5and friends, playing golf, fall fishing trips, putting in a
6vegetable garden, having an adult beverage with friends at the
7north end of Hafners, going to Marco Island in the winter,
8going to Door County, Wisconsin in the fall, Chicago during the
9holidays, sundowns, his four dogs, Oscar, Hap, Lucky, and
10Susie, and cruises; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Ron Dixon was preceded in death by his parents;
12his wife, Joanne; and his son, Patrick; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Ron Dixon is survived by his children, Carrie
14O'Neill, Sherrie Brown (Gary Lenz), and John (Dawn) Dixon; his
15grandchildren, Rachel (Justin) Peterson, Adam (Cashlin) Boyle,
16Jennifer Brown, and Zachary Brown; eight great-grandchildren;
17and his sister, Joan Lehmann; therefore, be it
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
19ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
20Ronald "Ron" Edward Dixon and extend our sincere condolences to
21his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
