SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Roberto "Bob" Alaniz of East Moline, who
4passed away on February 1, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bob Alaniz was born in McAllen, Texas to Marcelino
6and Virginia Gonzalez Alaniz on February 17, 1938; he served in
7the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1957; he married
8Margarita Villanueva in McAllen on July 12, 1965; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Bob Alaniz worked as a meat cutter for Tri-City in
10Silvis, Geifman Grocery Stores in the Quad-Cities, and the
11Eagle Food Chain, before retiring with over 30 years of
12service; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Bob Alaniz enjoyed being with his grandchildren
14and family, playing his guitar, and upholstery work; he was an
15avid fan of the Chicago Bears and Cubs; he was also a fan of the
16Dallas Cowboys; he was a member of Nueva Vida Pentecostal
17Church in Moline and the Meat Cutters Union; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Bob Alaniz was preceded in death by his parents;
19his brother, Raul; and his sister, Irma; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Bob Alaniz is survived by his wife of 53 years,

1Margie; his children, Roberto Jr., Ruben (Chris), and Eddie
2Alaniz and Ellie (Bob) Larson; his grandchildren, Lori, Hope,
3Autumn, Alex, Isaac, Andre (Madison), Talia (Danny), and Selena
4(Parker); his great-grandchildren, Micah, Aliyah, Sophia, and
5Nadia; his brothers, Arturo (Rosa), Rudy, and Homer (Amalia)
6Alaniz; and numerous nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Roberto "Bob" Alaniz and extend our sincere condolences to his
10family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Bob Alaniz as an expression of our
14deepest sympathy.
