SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Nicholas A. "Nick" Elizondo of
4Belleville, who passed away on January 21, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Nick Elizondo was born in Springfield to Jody and
6Mark Elizondo on October 9, 1989; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Nick Elizondo dealt with heterotaxy, biliary
8atresia, liver transplant, and most recently cancer; he was
9known for what he fought for and not what he was fighting
10against; he was a champion of spreading awareness and always
11made the most of life; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Nick Elizondo was a member of the Outreach
13Committee for Heterotaxy Connection; he served on the
14leadership team, connecting new members into the Heterotaxy
15Connection community, and was a relentless advocate for
16increased awareness, leading blood drives through his local
17Masonic temple, participating in heart walks, and being one of
18the loudest voices on Awareness Day; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Nick Elizondo was a member of St. Clair Lodge #24
20AF & AM, Scottish Rite Bodies, and Ainad Shrine; he organized
21blood drives and toy drives for the Masonic Lodge; he was an

1assistant coach of the Litchfield Purple Panthers football and
2wrestling teams; he was a member of Future Farmers of America
3and Faith Lutheran Church in Litchfield; he was president of
4JILG (Jobs for Illinois Graduates); he loved Marvel, the St.
5Louis Cardinals, and his family; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Nick Elizondo is survived by his wife, Katie
7Elizondo; his parents; and numerous family and friends;
8therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Nicholas A. "Nick" Elizondo and extend our sincere condolences
12to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
13it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Nick Elizondo as an expression of
16our deepest sympathy.
