SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
25 ILCS 115/6 new

    Amends the General Assembly Compensation Act. Provides that for terms beginning on and after the second Wednesday in January of 2021, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, the President of the Senate, and the Minority Leader of the Senate shall not receive compensation or income, other than from a passive interest in a publicly-traded company, from any source outside of or in addition to the salary he or she receives as a member of the General Assembly. Provides that nothing prohibits the creation of a blind trust to manage assets during a member's term of office.

1    AN ACT concerning State government.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The General Assembly Compensation Act is amended
5by adding Section 6 as follows:
 
6    (25 ILCS 115/6 new)
7    Sec. 6. Outside income prohibition. For terms beginning on
8and after the second Wednesday in January of 2021, the Speaker
9of the House of Representatives, the Minority Leader of the
10House of Representatives, the President of the Senate, and the
11Minority Leader of the Senate shall not receive compensation or
12income, other than from a passive interest in a publicly-traded
13company, from any source outside of or in addition to the
14salary he or she receives as a member of the General Assembly.
15Nothing in this Section prohibits the creation of a blind trust
16to manage assets during a member's term of office.
