SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
620 ILCS 5/3-698.5 new

    Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Provides that the Secretary of State may issue Air Force Combat Action Medal license plates to residents who meet eligibility requirements prescribed by the Secretary.

1    AN ACT concerning transportation.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Illinois Aeronautics Act is amended by
5adding Section 3-698.5 as follows:
 
6    (620 ILCS 5/3-698.5 new)
7    Sec. 3-698.5. Air Force Combat Action Medal license plates.
8    (a) In addition to any other special license plate, the
9Secretary, upon receipt of all applicable fees and applications
10made in the form prescribed by the Secretary, may issue Air
11Force Combat Action Medal license plates to residents of this
12State who meet eligibility requirements prescribed by the
13Secretary. The special Air Force Combat Action Medal plate
14issued under this Section shall be affixed only to passenger
15vehicles of the first division, motorcycles, and motor vehicles
16of the second division weighing not more than 8,000 pounds.
17Plates issued under this Section shall expire according to the
18staggered multi-year procedure established by Section 3-414.1.
19    (b) The plates shall display the Air Force Combat Action
20Medal. In all other respects, the design, color, and format of
21the plates shall be within the discretion of the Secretary. The
22Secretary may allow the plates to be issued as vanity plates or
23personalized in accordance with Section 3-405.1 of this Code.

1The plates are not required to designate "Land of Lincoln", as
2prescribed in subsection (b) of Section 3-412 of this Code. The
3Secretary shall prescribe the eligibility requirements and, in
4the discretion of the Secretary, shall approve and prescribe
5stickers or decals as provided under Section 3-412.
