To the Honorable Members of

The Illinois Senate,

101st General Assembly:

Today I veto Senate Bill 2128 from the 101st General Assembly, which would have amended the Illinois Certified Shorthand Reporters Act of 1984, the Code of Civil Procedure and related statutes.

While this bill would have had unintended consequences on existing and established court procedures, I look forward to working with the sponsors of the legislation in the future to improve the Illinois Certified Shorthand Reporters Act of 1984 and encourage the use of new technologies available in the court reporting industry.

Therefore, pursuant to Section 9(b) of Article IV of the Illinois Constitution of 1970, I hereby return Senate Bill 2128, entitled “AN ACT concerning regulation,” with the forgoing objections, vetoed in its entirety.

Sincerely,

JB Pritzker
