HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Palos Hills Police Chief
4Paul J. Madigan on the occasion of his retirement after over 50
5years in law enforcement; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Chief Madigan began his career in law enforcement
7in the late 1960s as a railroad detective; he joined the Palos
8Hills Police Department in October of 1971 and has served in
9every position within the department, which included a three
10year assignment with a regional undercover narcotics task
11force; he became chief of the department in 1993; in 2002, he
12formed one of the first regional SWAT teams in the southwest
13suburbs; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Chief Madigan retired from the United States Army
15and Army Reserve after serving for over 30 years; while serving
16with the Palos Hills Police Department, he was deployed to
17Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm, for which he was awarded
18the Bronze Star; he was deployed numerous times on humanitarian
19missions to Egypt, Nigeria, South America, and Central America;
20while serving as the command sergeant major of a joint task
21force in Central America, he was awarded the Monja Blanca Medal
22by the Guatemalan government for outstanding service to the
23people of Guatemala during recovery operations after the

1devastation of Hurricane Mitch; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Chief Madigan is currently serving as the
3president of the Southwest Central Dispatch and Southwest
4Central Regional 9-1-1 executive committee; he is also the
5chairman of the board of directors of the PLOWS Council on
6Aging, a not-for-profit organization serving senior citizens
7in the southwest suburbs; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
9HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
10we congratulate Palos Hills Police Chief Paul J. Madigan on his
11retirement after over 50 years in law enforcement, and we wish
12him the best in all of his future endeavors; and be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to Chief Madigan as a symbol of our respect and
15esteem.
