HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Edmund J.
4Gronkiewicz of Chicago and Berwyn, who passed away on September
52, 2020; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Edmund Gronkiewicz was born in Chicago to Edmund
7Gronkiewicz and Mary Balonek Gronkiewicz on February 4, 1939;
8he was raised on the Southwest Side of Chicago; he attended St.
9Casimir Grammar School and Quigley Seminary; he earned his
10bachelor's, master's, and juris doctor degrees from Loyola
11University Chicago; he was a polyglot and was fluent in Latin,
12Greek, Hebrew, Aramaic, French, Russian, and Polish; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Edmund Gronkiewicz was a probate and estate
14planning lawyer for 55 years; he was a former partner at the
15law firms Hinshaw and Culbertson LLP and Reda, Ciprian,
16Magnone, LLC; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Edmund Gronkiewicz served as a deacon at Our Lady
18of Mount Carmel Church located in the East Lakeview area of
19Chicago for 20 years; he was in a number of religious
20organizations, including the Sovereign Military Order of Malta
21Federal Association, the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher
22of Jerusalem, the Order of Saints Maurice and Lazarus, and the

1Sacred Military Constantinian Order of St. George; he was a
2life member of The Polish Museum of America (PMA), where he
3served as past legal counsel; he was a 49-year member of the
4Chicago Society of the Polish National Alliance; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Edmund Gronkiewicz was preceded in death by his
6parents; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Edmund Gronkiewicz was the dear friend of Joan
8Trandel; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
10HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
11we mourn the passing of Edmund J. Gronkiewicz and extend our
12sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew
13and loved him; and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Edmund Gronkiewicz as an expression
16of our deepest sympathy.
