HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Bernard
4Paul "Bernie" Floriani Jr. of Gurnee, who passed away on July
530, 2020; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Bernie Floriani was born in Greensburg to
7Catherine (McCauley) and Dr. Bernard Paul Floriani; he
8graduated from Dover High School in Delaware in 1987 and
9received his bachelor's degree from the University of Virginia
10in 1991, where he was a member of the golf and basketball
11teams; he married Christy Oehlstrom on July 3, 1993; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Bernie Floriani worked for State Farm and became
13an agent in Gurnee in 1997; he was past president of the Lake
14County Chapter of the National Association of Insurance and
15Financial Advisors; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Bernie Floriani was a member of the Rotary Club
17and was chairman of the 3 on 3 basketball tournament for Gurnee
18Days; he was a former board member of Gurnee Community Church
19and a founding board member of Bernie's Book Bank; he was
20involved in coaching numerous youth athletic programs and
21started the youth basketball team known as the Gurnee
22Lightning; he was a volunteer coach for the Warren Township

1High School varsity basketball program; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Bernie Floriani was preceded in death by his
3father, Paul Floriani; his paternal grandparents, Peter and
4Veronica Floriani; and his maternal grandparents, Bill and Kit
5McCauley; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Bernie Floriani is survived by his wife, Christy;
7his mother, Catherine Floriani; his children, Kayla and Maxwell
8Floriani; his brother, Brian Floriani (Suzanne Brown); his
9sister, Lindsey (Pete) Floriani Arterburn; his nieces and
10nephews, Zoe and Ziggy Floriani and Grant and Claire Arterburn;
11his mother-in-law, Sue Oehlstrom; his sister-in-law, Stacy
12(Forrest) Oehlstrom Behles; his niece and nephew, Mallory and
13Jack Behles; and numerous other family members; therefore, be
14it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
16HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
17we mourn the passing of Bernard Paul "Bernie" Floriani Jr. and
18extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all
19who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21presented to the family of Bernie Floriani as an expression of
22our deepest sympathy.
