HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Lucille Lovett on the
4occasion of her 100th birthday on February 18, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Lucille Lovett was born in Waverly and grew up on
6the family farm in Murrayville, where she was the oldest of
7eight children; she enjoyed horseback riding and loved being an
8older sister to her brothers and sisters; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Lucille Lovett graduated from Murrayville High
10School and moved to St. Louis to attend business college; she
11started working for First National Bank in St. Louis in 1940
12but returned to Murrayville in 1944 to help raise her siblings
13at the family homestead; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Lucille Lovett began working for Bound to Stay
15Bound Books in Jacksonville in 1964 and worked there until her
16retirement in 1995; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Lucille Lovett has a passion for baking and her
18apple pie has won the Jacksonville Applefest numerous times;
19she enjoys growing beans and tomatoes in her home garden; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Lucille Lovett has kept active in retirement by

1doing volunteer work at Passavant Hospital in Jacksonville; she
2is a lifetime member of the Murrayville American Legion, which
3she has diligently supported for decades; and
 
4    WHEREAS, For over 56 years, Lucille Lovett has lived in
5Jacksonville; she is the mother of three children, grandmother
6to eight, and great-grandmother to 24; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
8HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
9we congratulate Lucille Lovett on her 100th birthday, and we
10wish her many more wonderful years; and be it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to Lucille Lovett as a symbol of our respect and
13esteem.
