HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, November is traditionally designated as National
3Family Caregivers Month to honor the more than 40 million
4caregivers across the country who support aging parents, ill
5spouses, or other loved ones with disabilities who remain at
6home; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Seven percent of family caregivers were age 75 or
8older, a share that has gone up steadily in the past two
9decades; often the recipient is a spouse with dementia or heart
10disease who needs a high level of care; and
 
11    WHEREAS, By providing billions of dollars' worth of
12caregiving services each year, caregivers dramatically reduce
13the demands on the nation's healthcare system and make an
14extraordinary contribution to the quality of life of their
15loved ones; and
 
16    WHEREAS, These everyday heroes, living quietly among us in
17families and communities across the country, are the major
18source of long-term care in America; therefore, be it
 
19    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
20HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
21we declare November 2020 as "Family Caregivers Month" in the

1State of Illinois to bring attention to those that sacrifice to
2care for their family members who are in need.
