HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to commend Scott Martin for all that he
4has accomplished over his career and thank him for his
5dedication and hard work; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Scott Martin graduated from Bradley University
7with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and
8Administration; he later earned the Fellow, Life Management
9Institute Designation in 1987, as well as a certificate from
10the Academy of Life Underwriting education program in 1990; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Scott Martin began his career in 1976 by joining
12the Pekin Life Insurance Company as an underwriter trainee, and
13he quickly rose in status through his hard work, becoming
14assistant underwriter in 1978, underwriter in 1979, senior
15underwriter in 1981, chief underwriter with staff management
16status in 1986, and underwriting manager in 1990; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Scott Martin eventually moved into Pekin Life
18Insurance Company's leadership; he was promoted to vice
19president for administration and assistant secretary in 1994,
20senior vice president of all Pekin Insurance Companies and
21chief operating officer of Pekin Life Insurance Company in
222003, and president and chief operating officer of Pekin Life

1Insurance Company in 2006 with the added responsibility of
2chief operating officer of the Property/Casualty Companies in
32008; and
 
4    WHEREAS, In 2010, Scott Martin became president of all
5Pekin Insurance Companies and president and chief executive
6officer of all Pekin Insurance Companies in 2014; in 2015, he
7became chairman of the board; and
 
8    WHEREAS, In addition to his distinguished career at Pekin
9Insurance, Scott Martin is active in his community and the
10wider insurance industry, exemplified by his service on the
11boards of the Midwest Affiliate of St. Jude Children's Research
12Hospital, the Illinois Life Insurance Council, and the Illinois
13Insurance Association, as well as his past service with the
14American Red Cross, the Pekin Police Foundation, and the Herget
15National Bank; he is a former member on the Pekin Community
16Bank Advisory Board; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Residing in Chillicothe, Scott Martin has
18provided great care for his loving family, his wife, Joan, his
19children, Megan and Andrew, and his grandchildren, Joshua and
20Josiah; therefore, be it
 
21    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
22HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that

1we thank Scott Martin for his commendable service in his
2profession and in the wider community and wish him many healthy
3and happy years of retirement with his family and friends; and
4be it further
 
5    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6presented to Scott Martin and his family as a symbol of our
7respect and esteem.
