HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Kathryn Altadonna Kueper
4on the occasion of her 100th birthday; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Kathryn Kueper was born at home in Sandoval to
6Sicilian immigrants Frank and Rosilia Altadonna on October 10,
71919; the eighth of nine children, she graduated from high
8school in 1935; she married Ralph Kueper in 1941; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Kathryn Kueper began working at her father's Red &
10White grocery store, the precursor to the small chain of
11Altadonna IGAs, after graduating from high school; she and her
12husband then owned, along with other family members, Kueper's
13Tavern in Carlyle; after the death of her husband in 1955, she
14raised her three children, Tom, Rosie, and Paul, on her own;
15she tended bar before selling her interest in the tavern; she
16worked at City Hall and then, for nearly 30 years, at the
17office of Dr. DuComb; and
 
18    WHEREAS, After retiring, Kathryn Kueper helped her
19daughter, Rosie, at the Corner Deli Rosie owned for ten years;
20she has enjoyed traveling and has visited Italy, Germany,
21Hawaii, the World's Fair in Knoxville, Tennessee, New Orleans,
22Niagara Falls, California, and New York; she has used her

1creative skills to make a quilt for each of her ten
2grandchildren and crochet afghans and dishcloths; when she is
3not reading, she plays cards or Yahtzee, listens to Frank
4Sinatra, and spends time with family; she lives independently
5and spends afternoons on the front porch, as family and friends
6visit daily for coffee, cards, and conversation; therefore, be
7it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
9HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
10we congratulate Kathryn Altadonna Kueper on the occasion of her
11100th birthday on October 10, 2019; and be it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to Kathryn Kueper as an expression of our esteem and
14respect.
