HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Lloyd
4Emory DeTienne Jr., who passed away on August 26, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Lloyd DeTienne Jr. was born in Zion to Lloyd and
6Eileen (Bure) DeTienne on October 19, 1934; he graduated from
7Zion-Benton Township High School in 1952; he married Sally Su
8Cook in 1953; he attended the FBI National Academy in Quantico,
9Virginia and graduated first in his class; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Lloyd DeTienne Jr. was a hard-working,
11industrious man with a cheerful and happy outlook who was
12dedicated to his family, his faith, and the City of Zion; while
13in high school, he delivered a six-mile, rural route every day
14of the week for the Waukegan News Sun and was selected as
15Outstanding Newsboy in 1951; after graduation, he worked as a
16bagger at the old A&P in Zion, as a local distributor for
17Colonial Bread, and as an apprentice butcher; he later followed
18in his grandfather's footsteps and pursued a career in law
19enforcement; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Lloyd DeTienne Jr. began his career in law
21enforcement as a Patrolman for the City of Zion's Police
22Department in 1957; he served as the City's first full-time

1Juvenile Officer; he was appointed Chief of Police in 1963; he
2served as city alderman for five terms; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Lloyd DeTienne Jr. was a faithful member of
4Trinity Christian Center in Zion; he never met a stranger and
5will be remembered for his warm and caring personality; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Lloyd DeTienne Jr. was preceded in death by his
7parents; his wife, Sally Su DeTienne; and his daughter-in-law,
8Donna DeTienne; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Lloyd DeTienne Jr. is survived by his children,
10Teri (Scott) DeTienne-Davenport, Wanda (Doug) Pince, Douglas
11DeTienne, and LeAnn (Dean) Fischer; his grandchildren, Matthew
12DeTienne-Davenport, Mandi DeTienne-Davenport, Aaron Pince,
13Barry Pince, Lindsay DeTienne, Megan (Bob) Simmington, and
14Talisa Fischer; nine great-grandchildren; and his siblings,
15Pat Roth, Linda Antcliff, and Herb (Shirley) DeTienne;
16therefore, be it
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
18HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
19we mourn the passing of Lloyd Emory DeTienne Jr. and extend our
20sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew
21and loved him; and be it further

1    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
2presented to the family of Lloyd DeTienne Jr. as an expression
3of our deepest sympathy.
