HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Rudolph
4T. Danel, who passed away on May 14, 2019 at the age of 103; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Rudolph Danel was born in Silesia (now Poland) in
61915, the youngest of ten children; as a youngster, he learned
7to be self-reliant and earned money by running errands for
8people in his village; he was determined to get an education
9and attended whenever he could; at the age of 14, he joined the
10army; and
 
11    WHEREAS, In the army, Rudolph Danel learned to play musical
12instruments; he participated in the marching band and became a
13trumpet player; he did chores for the local school in lieu of
14tuition and learned to play the viola; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Rudolph Danel was a survivor of Auschwitz; he was
16arrested by the Gestapo for stealing information and documents
17from a German police sergeant; he adapted and played music in
18the Auschwitz orchestra; after World War II, he was able to
19obtain college tuition concessions and earned a degree in
20business-economics from Munich University; and
 
21    WHEREAS, In 1950, Rudolph Danel emigrated to Chicago; his

1first jobs were in manufacturing, but later he began his life's
2career as a social worker; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Shortly after 1950, Rudolph Danel met Maria Ruth
4Swincow, who became the love of his life; they married and had
5three children, Isabella, Elizabeth, and Alexander; they
6enjoyed going to symphonies and operas and spent summers in
7Union Pier, Michigan; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Rudolph Danel was a loyal husband and dedicated
9father; his family was the focus of his life; his grandchildren
10brought him great joy, and he was amazed to become a
11great-grandfather; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Rudolph Danel is survived by his children,
13Isabella and Alexander; his three grandchildren, David,
14Rachael, and Sasza; and his great-grandchildren, Sienna and
15David Jr.; therefore, be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
17HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
18we mourn the passing of Rudolph T. Danel and extend our sincere
19condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
20him; and be it further
 
21    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
