HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Mildred
4Bell, who passed away on April 6, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Mildred Bell was born in Dumas, Arkansas to Irene
6Lindsey on June 7, 1931; she graduated from Dumas High School
7and moved to Chicago, where she attended the Madame C.J. Walker
8Beauty School; she married Roosevelt Bell on July 5, 1958; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Mildred Bell worked for Hart Schaffner & Marx for
1034 years until her retirement in 1996; after retirement, she
11worked with Help at Home, Inc.; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Mildred Bell was a member of the Vernon Baptist
13Church for 65 years, where she served on the Matron Society and
14with the Willing Workers Ministry; the heart of her family, she
15was known for her sweet smile and kind spirit; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Mildred Bell was preceded in death by her mother,
17Irene Lindsey; her son, Gregory Bell; and her sister, Mary
18Leggins; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Mildred Bell is survived by her husband, Roosevelt
20Bell; her children, Gretta Yvette Williams and Janice

1Slaughter; her sister, Helen Green (Malvon); her brother, Joe
2James; her grandchildren, Aquisha Davis, Alexis Slaughter, and
3Gregory Slaughter Jr.; her great-grandchildren, Hillary,
4Hollyn, and Aniya; numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and
5friends; and her church family; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
7HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
8we mourn the passing of Mildred Bell and extend our sincere
9condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
10her; and be it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Mildred Bell as an expression of our
13deepest sympathy.
