HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Matthew Hoppesch on
4achieving the rank of Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of
5America, the highest and most-coveted honor in Scouting; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Matthew Hoppesch began his scouting career in 2006
7as a Tiger Scout with Pack 399 based at St. Hubert Catholic
8Church in Hoffman Estates; he crossed over to Troop 399 in
9February 2011; he has attended National Youth Leadership
10Training and held leadership positions within the troop as
11chaplain's aide, scribe, and troop guide; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Matthew Hoppesch's Eagle Scout project, which is
13required to be of significant value to the community, was to
14rehabilitate a weather-worn garden shed on the property of St.
15Matthew Catholic Church; this included obtaining donations
16from numerous sources; he replaced rotting walls, trim boards,
17and a soffit and then stained the entire shed in two colors;
18and
 
19    WHEREAS, Matthew Hoppesch graduated from Schaumburg High
20School in May 2018, where he was a member of the National Honor
21Society; he is currently pursuing a physics degree at the
22University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where he volunteers

1as a student leader for the College of Liberal Arts and
2Sciences; he hopes to study law after earning his undergraduate
3degree; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Through his dedication and hard work, Matthew
5Hoppesch has demonstrated that he lives by the principles of
6the Scout Oath and Law in his daily life; he sets a fine
7example for his peers and friends through his leadership, hard
8work, and commitment; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Matthew Hoppesch will be honored at an Eagle Court
10of Honor at St. Hubert; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
12HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
13we congratulate Matthew Hoppesch on achieving the rank of Eagle
14Scout and commend him for his dedication and determination in
15achieving this most prestigious award; and be it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to Matthew Hoppesch as a symbol of our respect and
18esteem.
