SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
20 ILCS 505/44 new

    Amends the Children and Family Services Act. Provides that no later than July 1, 2020, the Department of Children and Family Services must enter into a contract with an independent third party to conduct a performance audit every 2 fiscal years to determine whether the Department is meeting its obligations under the Act and under any other applicable State or federal law. Provides that the first performance audit shall be conducted as soon as possible and shall review the Department's activities during State fiscal years 2019 and 2020. Provides that upon completion of each audit, the independent third-party shall report its findings to the General Assembly. Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning State government.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Children and Family Services Act is amended
5by adding Section 44 as follows:
 
6    (20 ILCS 505/44 new)
7    Sec. 44. Performance audit. No later than July 1, 2020, the
8Department must enter into a contract with an independent third
9party to conduct a performance audit every 2 fiscal years to
10determine whether the Department is meeting its obligations
11under this Act and under any other applicable State or federal
12law. The first performance audit shall be conducted as soon as
13possible and shall review the Department's activities during
14State fiscal years 2019 and 2020. Upon completion of each
15audit, the independent third-party shall report its findings to
16the General Assembly.
 
17    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
18becoming law.
