1    AN ACT concerning regulation.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Funeral Directors and Embalmers Licensing
5Code is amended by changing Section 1-5 as follows:
 
6    (225 ILCS 41/1-5)
7    (Section scheduled to be repealed on January 1, 2023)
8    Sec. 1-5. Legislative intent. The The practice of funeral
9directing and embalming in the State of Illinois is declared to
10be a practice affecting the public health, safety and welfare
11and subject to regulation and control in the public interest.
12It is further declared to be a matter of public interest and
13concern that the preparation, care and final disposition of a
14deceased human body be attended with appropriate observance and
15understanding, having due regard and respect for the reverent
16care of the human body and for those bereaved and the overall
17spiritual dignity of every person. It is further a matter of
18public interest that the practice of funeral directing and
19embalming as defined in this Code merit and receive the
20confidence of the public and that only qualified persons be
21authorized to practice funeral directing and embalming in the
22State of Illinois. This Code shall be liberally construed to
23best carry out these subjects and purposes.
