SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
210 ILCS 85/6.28 new

    Amends the Hospital Licensing Act. Requires hospitals that receive a property tax exemption under a provision of the Property Tax Code concerning exemptions related to access to hospital and health care services by low-income and underserved individuals to prove that, upon inspection by the Department of Public Health, for that fiscal year the amount spent on executive salary increases was equivalent to the amount spent on patients who are recipients under the State medical assistance program or are charity care patients.

1    AN ACT concerning health.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Hospital Licensing Act is amended by adding
5Section 6.28 as follows:
 
6    (210 ILCS 85/6.28 new)
7    Sec. 6.28. Property tax exemptions related to access to
8hospital and health care services by low-income and underserved
9individuals. A hospital that receives a property tax exemption
10under Section 15-86 of the Property Tax Code must prove that,
11upon inspection by the Department, for that fiscal year the
12amount spent on executive salary increases was equivalent to
13the amount spent on patients who are recipients of the medical
14assistance program under Article V of the Illinois Public Aid
15Code or are charity care patients.
